Steroid treatment

Steroid treatment for cancer uses synthetic derivatives of the natural steroid cortisol, not the illegal, anabolic type that bodybuilders use! Common steroids used in cancer treatment are hydrocortisone, dexamethasone, methylprednisolone and prednisone.

Steroids can be used in cancer treatment to make chemotherapy more effective, reduce inflammation or immune response (after a bone marrow or stem cell transplant) or reduce or control side effects like nausea or headaches.
