How your donations help young Australians impacted by cancer

When cancer turns a young person’s world upside down, your donation helps Canteen provide the support they need to cope, connect, and rebuild. Whether you give once or monthly, your generosity funds life-changing services for young Australians aged between 12 and 25 who are impacted by cancer.

Where your monthly donation goes

Your donation directly supports programs and services designed to help young people and their families when cancer strikes:

  • Free and confidential counselling - One-on-one sessions with trained professional staff to help navigate the grief, anxiety, and uncertainty that cancer can bring.

  • Peer support programs - Online and in-person groups connecting young people who understand what it’s like to face cancer, while providing a bit of fun along the way.

  • Youth leadership training - Empowering young Australians to build confidence and develop skills which they can use in their personal and professional life.

  • Education and career support - Helping young people navigate the challenges that cancer brings while managing school, work, and university commitments.

  • Clinical trials - Supporting ground-breaking research to give young cancer patients access to new treatment options.

Real stories, real impact

Behind every donation is a young person whose life has been changed. From counselling sessions that ease anxiety to programs that create lifelong friendships, your generosity makes it possible.

Saskia was just 17 when she was diagnosed with a rare form of oral cancer that left her facing surgeries, the loss of her ability to eat and speak normally, and profound isolation. Her mother encouraged her to reach out to Canteen. This became a turning point in Saskia’s recovery, offering her counselling, community and hope.

Through the support of Canteen’s generous donors, Saskia found the courage to return to university to study nursing, and was determined to help others in their time of need.
