CanTeen programs run for 1-3 days and provide our Members with the opportunity to meet other young people going through a similar experience, receive psychosocial support and have some respite and ‘time out’. Health professionals play a crucial role in volunteering as either a medical or psychosocial volunteer:
- Medical volunteers (e.g. registered doctors and nurses) – provide Members with medical support including the administration of medications and provision of first aid.
- Psychosocial volunteers (e.g. psychologists, counsellors or social/youth workers) – assist CanTeen staff in facilitating group discussions and training sessions for Members.
