Medical Volunteer

Closing December 31
Opportunities in QLD, NSW, Northern TAS, SA, NT and ACT

CanTeen relies on the assistance and support of our volunteers to help us deliver our programs for young people. We can’t run our programs without our generous volunteers. As a health professional you have specialist skills that are essential in the running of our programs. Our volunteers provide support, administer medication and first aid, participate in and help run activities and most importantly have fun in the process!

What’s involved?

CanTeen programs run for 1-3 days and provide our Members with the opportunity to meet other young people going through a similar experience, receive psychosocial support and have some respite and ‘time out’. Health professionals play a crucial role in volunteering as either a medical or psychosocial volunteer:

  • Medical volunteers (e.g. registered doctors and nurses) – provide Members with medical support including the administration of medications and provision of first aid.
  • Psychosocial volunteers (e.g. psychologists, counsellors or social/youth workers) – assist CanTeen staff in facilitating group discussions and training sessions for Members.
