Get all the information you need

It’s normal to feel scared or anxious about what will happen. If you want to know everything, ask people to be honest with you.

Having all the right information can help you understand what to expect, and to make decisions that are right for you.

Ask as many questions as you want and as often as you want. You might want to know:

  • Why did this happen?
  • How do you know that there are no more treatments to try?
  • Can I get a second opinion?
  • How long do I have?
  • What will it feel like? Will it hurt?
  • How will you control the pain or other symptoms?
  • How will I know that death is close?
  • Will I be aware of what is happening?
