Why do we need a cancer survivorship program?

Up to two thirds of young cancer survivors experience long-term or late effects of their cancer treatment. This includes, but is not limited to mobility and physical impairments, changes in lifestyle, relationships, work and/or education. Research has highlighted that majority feel unprepared to face the survivorship phase of their cancer experience,

 Feeling more supported in their survivorship journey

  Improving their knowledge of wellness skills and strategies

 Increasing their confidence in managing difficulties in their journey

What does the program look like?

The program is intended for young adults aged 18-25 who have completed active cancer treatment. 

The program runs over three days and two nights, where our young people will:

 Participate in therapeutic group sessions facilitated by Canteen psychosocial staff

 Attend workshops delivered by experts in their field e.g. Fertility, nutrition, future and career.

 Have some down time to relax, reflect and be themselves
