Siona first graduated with Honours in Physiotherapy, and since then has attained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), undertaken Managing Healthcare Delivery, a program with Harvard University, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Siona most recently completed a Churchill Fellowship, which saw her travel to treatment settings across USA, Canada, UK and some European countries, where she investigated survivorship models of care for adolescents and young adults with cancer.
In 2021, Siona was seconded to Canteen by the Mater Hospital where she had been the Executive Director (Clinical Support Services: Ward Services & Administration) supporting a team of over 700 and leading various clinical, research and organisational initiatives. Prior to that she had the role of Director of Physiotherapy at the Mater, with the department she managed straddling 100 team members across 3 hospitals and 2 outpatient locations. More recently, Siona’s Canteen appointment was as the Queensland Youth Cancer Service Statewide Director, a role that is focused on ensuring that all young people with cancer across Queensland have access to best-practice, age-appropriate treatment and support.
Siona has undertaken a range of other roles including, as a visiting academic at University of Queensland.
