Dr Pandora Patterson is General Manager of Research, Policy & Patient Programs, and part of the Executive team at Canteen. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine & Health and holds a Bachelor’s degree (Hons 1) and PhD in Psychology. Over the last 15 years Pandora and her team have built a globally recognised program of psycho-oncology research and translational work with over 80 publications aimed at improving the lives of young people impacted by cancer. Along with her team, she also leads the national implementation of Canteen’s clinical trials initiative for young cancer patients and the hospital-based Youth Cancer Service which has transformed the response of Australia’s health care system to adolescent and young adult cancer patients with the provision of nationally co-ordinated, age-appropriate medical and psychosocial care.
Pandora has 30 years’ experience working with young people, first as a youth worker with homeless young people, then as a psychologist at NSW Health where she worked within the Infant, Child, Adolescent Mental Health Service, Liverpool Hospital and with young people with an intellectual disability within the Special Program Support Service.
