Bandanna Day

Rich Text 1

When you leave the house wearing a Canteen bandanna, you are making more than just a fashion statement – it shows you are supporting young people impacted by cancer and you care.

Held on the last Friday in October, National Bandanna Day is the flagship fundraising and awareness campaign for Canteen. But any day can be bandanna day!

Not-for-profit Canteen provides free and tailored support to young people aged 12-25 whose lives have been turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis.

We support young people with cancer who are dealing with their own diagnosis, a close family member’s cancer or the death of a loved one. Our services also extend to parents, because when they are supported through cancer in the family, their children cope better as well.

You, too, can support Aussies living with cancer by buying a Canteen bandanna.

Every year, another 23,000 young people have to face the challenges of cancer, and it impacts every aspect of their lives. When you support Aussies with cancer by buying a Canteen bandanna (they’re only $5!), all profits go towards our life-changing work providing help and connection to young people doing it tough.

Have enough bandannas? The Canteen shop is a treasure trove of other goodies, including scrunchies, water bottles, hats, t-shirts, towels and more.

And did we mention they are stylish?

By wearing one of our beautiful bandannas, not only are you being an awesome human as an ally to young people facing cancer – you’re looking pretty damn hot as well.

Canteen bandannas are designed by talented artists, including our First Nations Collection by Jasmine Sarin, a Kamilaroi and Jerrinja woman and emerging Indigenous designer, and Amy Saunders, a proud Biripi woman working on Darkinjung land.

Jasmine’s vibrant Ngalaya Bandanna (Dharawal for ally or friend in battle) is based off a full-sized artwork that is proudly displayed in Canteen’s head office on Gadigal land. See here for the First Nations Collection of bandannas and more.

The gift that keeps on giving

Our cotton bandannas also make for cool belts, bag accessories and gift wrapping – hello, Christmas and birthdays! By wrapping your pressies in a Canteen bandanna, you’re saving on paper waste and giving your loved one a double whammy present as they enjoy their bandanna along with the enclosed gift. And, best of all, you’re supporting young people impacted by cancer when they need you the most.

Buying Canteen merch is just one of the ways you can get involved in helping young people dealing with a cancer diagnosis. There are so many ways you and your friends can offer support and join the movement to stand up to cancer.
