Now What - Your Space For Taking On Cancer

Cancer messing with your life?

Now What home page

Now What (www.nowwhat.org.au) is a new cancer website developed by young people for young people dealing with cancer - cause cancer is too big to deal with on your own.*

Now What is designed so that you can easily find information about cancer and treatments, how to deal with the day-to-day stuff that goes on, and tips to make this tough time just a bit easier. Relevant information and support whenever you need it!

It also has stories of other young people who are just like you - so you can read these and understand that yes - there are other people out there that have gotten through this. You can also participate in forums and chat to other young people going through a similar experience.

Now What was built in response to research conducted by CanTeen (and built in conjunction with young people - see below) that identified a gap in the needs of young peole in getting access to relevant information.

We had some fabulous CanTeen Members help us develop Now What....and here they are!

Favourite thing about working on the Now What project:
Being able to input into its design and content all the way through the development until completion

Favourite page or story or blog on Now What:
I like the Dr quack blog, and also like Jamie's' blog

Something you find inspiring (can be anything!):
That all my peers on the site who I am good friends with all had the courage to upload their personal stories to benefit others

Favourite thing about working on the Now What project:
I really enjoyed working on the Now What project and being able to make and have my voice heard. I was involved in creating a site that will and is supporting young people living with cancer, and I managed to help shape that site, so that more people who have been through similar experiences to me, can be supported just as I was, and hopefully even better.

Favourite page or story or blog on Now What:
I love reading everyone's stories, about how they dealt with cancer. I find them really inspiring and motivational.

Something you find inspiring (can be anything!):
One thing I find really inspiring is people's stories. Most people always have a story to tell, some tragedy in their lives and so many of us never hear those stories, I find it so inspiring to discover those things about people and see who they are now, and where they have come from.

*If you are not a young person then you should still check out Now What. You can find information about cancer and order some fabulous resources that will help a young person you know or care for deal with their cancer experience.
