Outcomes

OUTCOMES

Over the past few years, the MAC has worked on a diverse range of projects, which we (the MAC) feel, are of benefit to the Members of CanTeen.  Below is a list of a number of outcomes of the MAC’s work.

Input into policies:

Not the most exciting work to talk about… but very important! The MAC has been involved in reviewing numerous CanTeen policies affecting CanTeen’s Membership to ensure that CanTeen has the frameworks in place to support our Membership on programs and in everything else that we do!

Launching the MACPAC

The ultimate kit for anyone interested in being a MAC Member in their Division.  It contains information about the Role of the MAC, How to complete tasks required in the role as the MAC, a Map of Sydney and Locations of Cheap CD Stores.  Everything a MAC Member could need.

Inaugurating the Shooting Star Award at National Camp

The award was made to the Member who the MAC felt best displayed the values and vibe of CanTeen at camp, and was made in memory of Kelly Johnson who made a significant contribution to CanTeen in her time as a Member. Peter Hancock from the Queensland Division was the recipient of the first Shooting Star, which will become an annual award.

Together with the Division Presidents, holding Leadership Weekends

This development program serves to help the newly elected Division Presidents and MAC Members get to know each other, to gain an understanding of the expectations in their role, and to develop their skills and toolkit both for their CanTeen roles and as leaders in the community.

Articulating CanTeen’s Values

As an organisation, CanTeen has always had strong values; however, these have not been explicitly documented. The MAC brainstormed and refined the values that it believes the organisation and Members hold; the result was almost identical to the values staff developed. The combined values were also launched at National Camp.

Abolishing Program Fees

A few years ago, The MAC, along with staff and the Board reached a decision that CanTeen’s programs should be free to Members, so that there would be no financial barrier to Members attending CanTeen programs.
