National Service Delivery Framework (NSDF)

In May 2007 the Cancer Australia Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Reference Group gave its highest priority to the development of an AYA National Service Delivery Framework for improving cancer care.  In September 2007, Cancer Australia formed a partnership with CanTeen to support the development of the Framework.

Based on the recommendations of the AYA Cancer Reference Group, the NSDF aims to set out clear quality standards for care for adolescents and young adults based on the best available evidence.  In order to do this, the project drew on the views and expertise of a large group of diverse stakeholders across Australia and was informed by similar frameworks from the UK and New Zealand.

We need your feedback!

The NSDF sets out priorities for cancer care services that are very similar to the changes that we have been advocating for over the last few years.  It makes many recommendations that we think are key to improving outcomes and care for AYAs with cancer.  These include

  • lead adolescent and young adult cancer care sites
  • access to support services and clinical trials
  • comprehensive assessment at diagnosis
  • coordinated care to empower adolescent and young adult decision making
  • expert multidisciplinary teams skilled in adolescent and young adult cancer care

We would love to hear your views about the Framework.   To comment, please complete the short Zoomerang survey at here or email your thoughts to us here.
