Interested in Raising More Than a Sweat for CanTeen?
Well here are some excellent pointers we thought you could use when you venture out to Raise More than a Sweat for us.
Now we’re not experts at running or cycling, but we’ve collected some suggestions….and don’t forget we’ll be cheering you on!
Training + competition tips:
For runners!
- Run three times a week for about 20 to 30 minutes for training, slowly extending the time on your feet
- When training make sure you replace lost fluids with water or sports drinks
- Let your body recover, by taking every second day off
- Always stretch, warm up and cool down
- When buying running shoes, you should go later in the day, because your feet will grow a couple of millimeters and up to 2cm by the end of the day!
- Replace your running shoes every 600 to 800 km (phew!)
For cyclists!
- Always wear bright clothing
- Every year your bicycle should be professionally serviced
- Before you finish your training, take 10 to 15 minutes for a leisurely spin to reduce muscles soreness the next day!
- Let someone know what route you ride and what time you leave
- Make sure your bicycle is appropriate for you height
- Obey the road rules
- Always wear a helmet it reduces the risk of head injury up to 60 percent!
